Hypnotherapy in Fife and online

Change the patterns that are holding you back

You can know exactly what you want to change, and still find yourself reacting the same way. Not everything we do is a conscious choice. Hypnosis gives us a way to work with the automatic responses that are hard to shift through willpower alone.

What's getting in your way?

Anxiety hypnotherapy

When your mind knows you're safe, but your body hasn't got the message

You can tell yourself there's nothing to worry about. You can know your reaction doesn't make sense. And yet the anxiety still arrives.

That's because anxiety isn't always something you can simply reason your way out of. Hypnosis gives us a way to work with the automatic thoughts, feelings and responses that keep it going, even when consciously you know you're OK.

Does this sound familiar?

  • Your mind races ahead, imagining everything that could go wrong.
  • You replay conversations, decisions or situations long after they've happened.
  • It shows up in your body: a tight chest, butterflies, tension, a racing heart.
  • You avoid places, situations or experiences because you know how anxious they'll make you feel.
  • You know there's nothing to be anxious about, but knowing that doesn't change how you feel.

How hypnosis can help

Anxiety can become an automatic response. Your mind and body learn to react in a particular way, sometimes before you've had time to think. When a response is automatic, telling yourself to "calm down" often isn't enough.

Rather than arguing with the feeling, we work with the patterns behind it. You're still you. You just respond differently to the situations that have been getting in your way.

I came to Tony with a growing case of travel anxiety. I had tried many self-calming techniques that helped when I travelled, but never really got rid of the fear itself, or the 'travel tummy' that felt like a pit in my stomach and forced me to plan my whole journey around bathroom locations. The session lasted about 45 minutes. I had to travel by air within days of it. I didn't realise until the flight was over that I had 'forgotten' to be anxious. No symptoms, no bathroom rushes, no worries. Thank you Tony, I am now so excited about my France river cruise next year because I know it will be anxiety free.

I went to Tony because I had issues in the heat. On top of 'normal' physical symptoms like being tired, I would also get really anxious due to an experience in my teens, this would make summer and holidays difficult for me to relax in and enjoy. After working with Tony I experienced a noticeable calmness in the heat. I went on holiday to Portugal and even when I got hot on the bus, I still was able to keep calm and enjoy my travels. Would recommend to anyone else who experiences illogical anxiety or stress in certain situations.

Confidence hypnotherapy

You know you're capable. So why does something get in the way?

You might know you're prepared and good enough. But when it matters, self-doubt kicks in. Overthinking. Worrying what other people think. That voice telling you that you can't do it.

Confidence isn't something you either have or don't. It's often a learned response, shaped by past experiences, and learned responses can change.

Does this sound familiar?

  • You hold back from speaking up, even when you know you have something worth saying.
  • You compare yourself to others and come up short, whatever the evidence says.
  • Compliments bounce off, but criticism sticks for days.
  • You turn down opportunities, or put off applying, in case you're found out.
  • You feel confident in some areas of life and completely different in others.

How hypnosis can help

We look at where the self-doubt shows up, what it's protecting you from, and how you'd like to feel instead.

In hypnosis we work with the automatic thoughts and feelings that knock your confidence, and rehearse a different response, so the version of you that shows up in the moment is closer to the one you know you are.

Performance hypnotherapy

You've prepared. You have the ability. Then the pressure arrives

Your heart races. Your mind goes blank. You tense up, overthink, or simply don't perform the way you know you can.

Hypnosis can help change the automatic response to pressure, so you can focus on what you're there to do.

Does this sound familiar?

  • You perform well in practice, then freeze or rush when it counts.
  • Your mind goes blank in presentations, exams or interviews.
  • Nerves take over before a match, competition, audition or performance.
  • One mistake knocks you off course for the rest of the event.
  • You spend days dreading something you're perfectly able to do.

How hypnosis can help

Some nerves are useful. They mean it matters. The aim is to help you stay focused, trust your preparation and perform without your own mind getting in the way.

We rehearse the moment in hypnosis, so the response you want becomes more familiar than the one you don't.

What happens in a session

You stay aware and in control

We start by talking about what's happening, what you'd like to change and what you'd like to experience instead. Then I guide you into hypnosis and we work with the thoughts, feelings and automatic responses connected to it.

There's no loss of control, and nothing is done to you. Every session is focused on the change you want to make.

My approach

State. Engage. Target.

S

State. We create the right mental and physical state for change.

E

Engage. We engage your attention, imagination and unconscious responses.

T

Target. We focus the work on the specific change you want to make.

Common questions

Before you get in touch

Will I be asleep or unconscious?

No. Hypnosis is a natural state of focused attention. You stay aware throughout and can open your eyes at any time.

Can you make me do things?

No. There's no mind control and nothing is done to you. We work together on the change you've said you want.

What if I can't be hypnotised?

Most people can experience hypnosis. It isn't about being gullible: it's about being willing to focus and engage. We'll talk it through first.

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on you and what you want to change. Most people choose the four-week programme, or the six-week PRIME Protocol for performance. We'll agree what makes sense on our chat.
